The mandate of the special education adviso- ry committee (SEAC) is to make recommendations to the board about mat- ters affecting special edu- cation programs and ser- vices delivered to stu- dents with exceptional needs. SEAC consists of mem- bers nominated by local community associations and approved by the board. There are up to 12 posi- tions available for local parent associations, and up to two positions avail- able for community mem- bers, for the 2018-2022 term. The community associ- ations have parental rep- resentatives who promote the interests and well-be- ing of students with ex- ceptional needs and abili- ties, and must operate lo- cally within the jurisdic- tion of the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB). SEAC meets on the last Monday of every month at the Catholic Education Centre in Burlington. The deadline for sub- missions is Friday, Nov. 30. Those interested in ap- plying as a "member at large" must be: • Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older • Resident within the jurisdiction of the HCDSB • A registered Catholic school supporter Board employees are not eligible for appoint- ment.
