- Noted by Parks Canada is that at the time of photographing, the building owner was Mr. D. Scharfo who lived at 302 Lakeshore Road, Oakville. The year of construction stamp has 1870-0000 written in. The building holds two street addresses: 302 Lakeshore Road East and 304 Lakeshore Road East.
The old house was home to several businesses when photographed in 1972. "Sportique", "Dominic Maison de Coiffure" and ".?.. Jane Boutique".
The blue card contact sheet of all photos taken by Parks Canada includes a street scene which is not one of the images reproduced for this record. - In December 1971, January 1972, Parks Canada photographed those buildings that were 100 or more years old. This Canadian Inventory of Heritage Buildings was a Centennial Project.
The Trafalgar Township Historical Society has worked with Parks Canada and Library and Archives Canada to find these photographs in the area of Trafalgar Township and the city of Oakville, Ontario. The collection will grow as we have time to collect and prepare the images.
The TTHS is also sending the images to the Town of Oakville Heritage Planners to increase local availability and to ensure local preservation.
