STAINTON, Sherrie Lynn May 21, 1981 - March 24, 2021 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ On March 24, 2021, at the age of 39, Sherrie Stainton passed away comfortably at her Burlington home having finally lost her 7 ½ year battle with breast cancer. Held by her loving husband of 10 wonderful years Matthew as she left us and surrounded by her family and friends, her pain had finally come to an end. Lovingly remembered by not only her husband, but her adoring son Tyler and daughter Caeleigh, parents Ken and Gloria Edwards, half- sister Melissa Siepmann, predeceased by father-in-law Gordon, mother-in-law Beth, brother-in-law James (and fiancé Kelly McSweeny), niece Madison, nephew Zachary and numerous friends who were fortunate to have known Sherrie's infectious personality, grace, and love throughout the years. She will be known as a remarkable woman who spread love and happiness to whomever she met and was always thinking of others, even thanking those around her in her final hours. Born in Oakville and having graduated from Central High School in Burlington (1999), continuing her education at Mohawk College (2003) and Brock University (2004), she aspired to be the best RN she could be. Prior to her diagnosis, she spent 9 years as a devoted Palliative and Wound/Ostomy Nurse. Working for Acclaim Health, she was a Nightingale Nominee (2007), and Manager of Health Services who had nothing but the utmost empathy, respect, and devotion to both her co- workers and clients. Many times she could recount patients and families that thanked her for her impeccable service and professionalism with their loved ones while under her care. After being diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer in 2013, she focused on her own health and the care of her young son and daughter who she loved more than words could express, all the while having a smile on her face, a swing in her step and unrelenting positivity. Always quick to joke, Sherrie made many a nurse smile during her many visits to Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Center at Credit Valley Hospital. She also created many unforgettable memories with friends and family in Burlington where she grew up, in Oakville where she had previously lived with her family, and throughout her entire life at Balsam Lake, where many summers and winters were spent. "Through thick and thin", her friends and family were always there ready to lend a hand and share time with her. We are eternally grateful to the doctors and nurses at Credit Valley and Oakville Trafalgar Hospitals who treated Sherrie throughout her long journey, and the palliative team at Acclaim Health who were there in her final days to provide her comfort and respite at its end. Taken too soon, she was an exceptional person. She will remain forever in our hearts and be loved by her kids and family for time immemorial. The love she spread will be everlasting. As per Sherrie's request, there will be no service or visitation and a celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers she wished for donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the United Way Halton & Hamilton. Till we are called to follow you, and in the grave to sleep; yet since you could no longer stay to cheer us with your love, we hope to meet with you again in the bright world above. Just a thought of sweet remembrance just a memory sad and true, just the love and sweet devotion of one who thinks of you. A wonderful person, friend and aide, one who was better God never made; a wonderful worker, so loyal and true, one in a million - that person was you. Just in your judgment, always right; honest and liberal, ever upright; loved by your friends and all whom you knew. Our wonderful friend - that person was you.
