John, died peacefully with his two daughters by his side at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on March 25, 2021 at 6:05 PM. Generous, patient, kind, spiritual, full of business savvy and a quiet, reflective man by nature are just a few words that describe our father. Dad was born in Verdun, Quebec on August 14, 1931 to Yvette Poirier and Hector Favreau and met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Margaret Black also of Verdun. They married in 1956 when the stars aligned as he met his match in Margaret (deceased May 17, 2000) who was also the best wife, mother and grandmother ever! They brought up their two daughters, Lynda and Andrea in Beaconsfield, Quebec. He leaves behind many broken hearts, family and friends who will miss him tremendously for his kindness and guidance. He loved us all and we will love him dearly always and forever. Missing him already are daughters Lynda Minnes, Andrea Favreau (Patrick Burns), grandchildren James Minnes (Diana and great-grandchildren Levi and Ryland) and Liane Minnes (Matt Fulton). In 1988 John and Margaret transferred to Ontario with BASF where he dedicated 30 years of his career. He is fondly remembered by his former colleagues and friends. Like many West Islanders who moved to Oakville our parents were very happy here and met many lovely friends. It was our father's wish to remain at his home in Oakville as long as possible and this would not have been possible without the help and support of both the LIHN and Acclaim Health. A huge thank you to April Stamina and her team at the LIHN for making this a reality - and also, Alissa Oliver and Asma at Acclaim Health for setting us up with the most wonderful PSWs that visited daily and always greeted our father with a smile and a helping hand. All were fantastic and an extra hug goes out to George, German and Kenton from Acclaim. Another thank you goes out to Jeanette Bock at Home Care Assistance for all her help, advice and guidance during our journey in caring for dad. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no funeral - cremation has already taken place. Once we can, we will have a Celebration of Life to honour our father. Thank you to Gordon Hunter at Kopriva - Taylor Funeral Home for all his help and compassion during this sad time.
