There was a short foot pursuit after po- lice arrived, which led to the suspect boarding an Oakville Transit bus. The bus was evacuated, and officers were able to de-escalate the situation and take the man into custody without any in- juries. He faces the following charges: • possession of a weapon for a danger- ous purpose • possession of a prohibited weapon • theft over $5,000 • obstruction of a police officer • possession of break and enter tools • possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 • possession of a weapon contrary to court order • two counts of fail to comply with pro- bation • possession of fentanyl The charges have not been proven in court. MAN FACING CHARGES IN GO TRAIN INCIDENT NEWS An Oakville man has been charged in connection with a drug investigation. Halton police say a search warrant at a residence in Oakville on July 7 led to the seizure of nine ounces of cocaine, $10,100 in cash, a prohibited knife,and 20 kilograms of cigarettes valued at approximately $25,000. A 54-year-old man has been charged with possession for the purpose of traffick- ing (cocaine), possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of contraband to- bacco for the purpose of sale. The charges have not been proven in court. The suspect was released from custody by way of an undertaking.
