Thank you for providing input on the SolidWaste Management Strategy! Get involved and have your say After taking a year off due to COVID-19, Todd Wirtz's haunted house made up for lost time with a record-setting year. The Oakville resident, who transforms his home into Solingate Manor, a haunted house full of ghosts, skeletons and gob- lins, collected more than 7,000 pounds of food for the Oakville Fare Share Food Bank as well as $14,000 in cash donations. Both were single-year highs in the more than 25 years Wirtz has been creating the haunted house. It takes almost three weeks for Wirtz to trans- form his home into a haunted house. Then two weeks before Halloween, he opens up the haunted house to visitors. Approximately 7,000 people visited Solingate Manor on Halloween night alone. This year Wirtz add- ed an adult hospitality tent with wine, shooters, hot chocolate and coffee. Jennifer Russell, president of Oakville Fare Share Food Bank, accepts a cheque for $14,000 from Todd Writz (middle) and Breno Wanderley (left). Writz raised the money by transforming his home into a haunted house, which had approximately 7,000 visitors on Halloween alone.
