There were three applications in for the pos- ition of the village clerk-treasur- er, and one for the assessor-col- lector. For the benefit of those who are a bit dubious as to the mean- ing of the term "spot constable," it means a man who would not devote full time to the job, but would be always ready to act when called upon. At present the village is being policed by Chief Constable Fred Oliver of Tra- falgar Township, who will con- tinue to act until such time as the village ean secure a man to fill the position. Applications for the assessor and clerk, and for the spot constable--if amy should be received--nwill be dealt with by council at this evening's meet- ing.
