- Notes
- Tintern Abbey, founded by Walter de Clare, Lord of Chepstow in 1131, is situated on the River Wye in Monmouthshire, Wales. In 1536 the monastery ended and the decay of the buildings began.
On 4 August 1914, Britain declared war on the German Empire. In September 1914 the steam ship Alsatian ceased its Liverpool-Halifax-St. John route to become an armed merchant cruiser. - Inscriptions

[...Gladys and I] have been in this part of the world since June 14th. We left home May 31st and if our vessel sails as scheduled will leave Liverpool Aug. 14th on the "Alsatian" one of the new Allan boats. On our way home we are planning to take a little run down to F'ton for a short while and besides other places will spend a few days at the Manse and also with Mrs. Palmer (Flo J.).
