Soccer club launches fund-raiSing drive Oakville Soccer Club is stepping up its fund-raising efforts toward construction of its new indoor ath- letic complex. _ "We can't go any further until we get more funds," said fund-raising spokesman Phil Iafrati. Construction on the $4 million state-of-art indoor soccer pitches at Shell Park was to begin this spring. But the club is still facing a short- fall and is hoping to raise between $600,000 and $1 million with the latest drive. The awards also saw a hometown athlete honored, as Brock Horton of Oakville was named most valuable player on the Sheridan golf team. Adrian Sandy, who guided the men's volleyball team to its fourth straight OCAA crown, was named coach of the year. The Most? Newsworthy Athlete award was won by Andrew Shepherd, an OCAA all-star on the men's bas- ketball team. . It was Tilstra's night all around: She was also coâ€"winnerâ€"-along with Trudy Forde--of the Coach's Trophy for women's soccer and winner of the Coach's Trophy for volleyball. The latest push begins Tuesday, when a half-dozen volunteers take to the phones, seeking donations from the OSC's 4,000 members.
