Following his gradâ€" uation in 1945, he spent many years as art director for a major Canadian corporation before leaving to pursue %, Music camp Piano teacher Silvija Abols, who has recently returned from four years of studying and teaching in Japan, will join the staff of the Oakville Performing Arts Day Camp this sumâ€" mer. Abols will be teaching piano to students at various levels and ages, from beginners of four and up, work fulltime as an artist. Chatfield has held more than 60 oneâ€"man shows across Canada at such prestigious locations as the McMichael Canadian Collection Gallery in Kleinburg and Ontario House in London, England. His work was also featured in a 1974 documentary entitled A Way Out. He is a longâ€"standing member of the Toronto Arts and Letters Club and the Oakville Art Society and has participated in numerous teachâ€" ing seminars in Ontario. Working mainly in oils, Chatfield produces bold, vigorous paintings that express the strength and ruggedness of the Canadian scene. Internationally recognized, his works can be found in both private and corporate collections throughâ€" out the world. McLarenâ€"Barnes is located at 133 Reynolds St. and its hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. welcomes piano teacher between July 12 and 16th. She welâ€" comes teacher observers to watch and discuss her methods and if there is sufficient interest, she will set up a full enrichment course on Suzuki Piano Teaching. The observer fee will be $70 for the week or $18 per day. Abols has a Piano Performance degree from the University of Western Ontario and has been a much sought after clinician since her return from Japan.There are still a few openâ€" ings for the camp in piano, cello, vioâ€" lin and viola students. Adults may also register at the camp for private lessons if there is space and for jazz piano or violin.
