Even in his regular house wine, one can easily detect the care that has gone into the wines. That may pose some problems as Jeanâ€"Claude Boisset has set standards which are just a little above the best of those in the Burgundy. A perfect indiâ€" cation of his quality level is his Charles de France Chardonnay, now in our stores as a regular listing. Tasting like a real Chardonnay should taste, this wine is one of the lowest priced white Burgundies at $11.85 (CSPC 158444). In a color of pale gold with light green reflections, a fine and delicate bouquet of fruit, hints of grapefruit, banana, green apples, and whatever fruit you may discover, the Boisset Chardonnay is a wellâ€"balanced and elegant wine that could very well be used as the measure by many other producers as to how a Chardonnay should taste.
