"All things considered, it‘s satisâ€" factory. The process hasn‘t answered all my questions, but at least it has done something to help someone else who may have a simâ€" ilar problem," said Beverley Haas, whose 20â€"yearâ€"old son David, an epileptic, was found lying underâ€" water in the Bronte Creek park pool, July 7th. Dick Haas, the young man‘s father, agreed, "I think David would feel very good about this. I can see him smiling and saying it wasn‘t all in vain." Chief among the recommendaâ€" tions were: * That a notice be posted asking any person with a serious medical condition to please inform the supervisor at the pool office. * That the notice be placed in a more prominent location and be increased in size in order to attract the attention of patrons. * Duplicate signs should be proâ€" vided inside the pool location. * That regular safety checks (clearing the pool) include a public (See ‘Inquest‘ page 7) By HOWARD MOZEL Oakville Beaver Staff In its loftiest terms, the purchase of Mack Truck‘s old North Service Road plant by Polywheels Manufacturing Ltd. can be seen as a blow against the recession. In October, the Oakville Public Library found out it had won the Angus Mowat Award of Excellence for its Oakville Images system. The library describes it as "a full image elecâ€" tronic data base through which library patrons can search and retrieve nonâ€"book documents via the lxbrary pubhc access cataâ€" logue." Although there are a few items in the system now for _ demonstration purposes, it won‘t. be fully up and running until _ January, _ said _ Flore deDominicis, head of informa tion services and one of a library team of seven who set up the _ system. . _ Patrons will find lnstou 1 data on Oakville in the new _ Oakville Room where the computer, "big screen", laser scanner and printer are waiting _ for them. From then on, it‘s the _ same as searching for a book on _ the Dynix in the main part of the. _ library, except that the requested _ material comes up on the screen. It can be rotated, flipped, magm fied and printed.. It‘s a far cry from "the e}d _ days" of trying to find old _ Oakville maps, byâ€"laws, old ‘ photos and any other historical data in filing cabinets. "This is the best spot in the whole world to live," said Milligan, who said they had also looked for a new home from Stoney Creek to Mississauga. "This building had their name on it," said mayor Ann Mulvale. "It‘s a success story of Ford opening opportunities for Polywheels." (See ‘Plant‘ page 5)
