Organization convenors or individual coaches can arrange for a guest coach to attend their practices by calling: Tom Swain at 827â€"6091 or Paul Chapman at 842â€"0553, during the evenings only. The "outreach program" will make Blades players available to act as guest coaches at pracâ€" tices from house league to Triple A levels. The player visit will also include complimentary tickets for the players and coaches to attend Blades home games. By SAL BOMMARITO Special to the Beaver Two big lines did most of the scoring for the Blades in both contests. The newly formed line of Mike Sikora, Cory Waring and Jason Bengert scored 10 goals in the two contests, while Gord Kalverda, Kent Williams and Jason Slaney combined for seven goals. Waring and Slaney, Oakville Blades hockey players will be working closely with Minor Oaks Hockey Association rep and house league players to help improve skill levels, teach teamwork and help foster a closer relationship between the two organizations. The MOHA recently purchased the Oakville Blades from Walker, who will continue to overâ€" see the onâ€"ice hockey operations. Administration and fundraising of the OHA provincial junior A squad will be handled by the MOHA Anchored by the solid goaltending of Frank Ivankovic at home against Georgetown, the team showed the composure which had been lacking this year to come up with a 7â€"3 victory. On the road the following night, the team embarrassed a hapless Royal York team 16â€"1. In that game, every Oakville player in the lineup contributed at least a point. Walker said the Blades play a more disciâ€" plined style in close contests. The Georgetown game was scoreless after the first, while the Blades led only 2â€"0 after the first versus Royal York. It wasn‘t until the second period â€" which has given the Blades some trouble all year long â€" in both contests that Oakville began pulling away from their opposition. T he Oakville Blades combined an aweâ€" some offensive display with good defensive hockey to defeat Georgetown and Royal York during OHA provincial junior A hockey action last weekend. 9 and closed within striking distance of third place Brampton. On several occasions in the past the team has jumped out to an early three or four goal lead only to have it eroded in the later stages of the game. But the team employed a style much more to the liking of general manager Murray Walker to come up with the backâ€"toâ€"back wins. "I‘d rather we not run away with it and then play lackadaisical hockey the rest of a game," said Walker, who praised his team for the conâ€" trolled style of play they showed in both conâ€" tests. We don‘t like to run the score up but I felt the team really needed to have a game like that." said Walker. The Blades led Georgetown 3â€"0 after two, while they exploded for seven goals in the secâ€" ond and seven goals in the third versus Royal York. They led Georgetown 5â€"0 in the third before Ivankovic, who turned away 34 shots on the night, let in his first goal of the game. The Blades outscored their opposition 23â€"4 in the two contests last Friday and Saturday nights.
