The government has no trouble spending money for its own ideoloâ€" gyâ€"driven programs like pay equity, says Coupland, but allows other agencies go begging. "I believe in equity and fairness but I also believe in protecting the vulnerable," he says. Both the Halton and Peel agenâ€" cies want the government to take steps which include declaring that mandatory services (those required by law) have funding priority and exempt Children‘s Aid Societies from further cutbacks.
