He entered politics nine months after his retirement from a 34â€"year policing career, and he quickly became known as a noâ€"nonsense town representative, who got things done. He said he has always tried to make the best decisions for the majority of people. "I never cast a vote looking for The Bradfordâ€"born politician first votes down the road. I always felt if â€" came to Halton County in 1946 at they didn‘t like the way I operated, the age of 23, when he became the (they could) vote me out."
