A joint public meeting is being held to present two of the supporting documents. The Water and Wastewater Servicing Master Plan is a document prepared under the Environmental Assessment Act which analyzed alternative approaches and recommends a preferred method of proâ€" viding water supply and wastewater treatment for new urban areas proposed in the Halton Urban Structure Plan. The Halton Urban Structure Review water and wastewater servicing studies, undertaken to consider planned growth, have been concluded. In order to accommodate growth, the Region of Halton‘s preâ€" ferred strategy consists of the following components: extension of Water and Wastewater Servicing by the construction of a new Water Purification Plant, an expansion to the midâ€"Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant and various reservoirs, pumping stations and trunk mains. These projects are located throughout the Region and maps showing the location of the projects will be available at the public meeting. The water and wastewater projects are being planned in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Water and Wastewater Projects. The Open House will provide further information to the public on the proposal and is being held to receive input and comment from interâ€" ested persons. The proposed new Water Purification Plant and the proposed expansion to the midâ€" Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant are Schedule C projects under Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Water and Wastewater Projects. The remainder of the projects are Schedule B proâ€" jects, or, where the projects are being constructed within municipally owned roadways or utility corriâ€" dors, are Schedule A projects. WATER AND WASTEWATER SERVICING MASTER PLAN The Sixteenâ€"Mile Creek Watershed Plan is a technical document which establishes the principles for both water and terrestrial resource management and stormwater management. The Watershed Plan, now being prepared, will propose goals and objectives for the natural environment based on the results of technical studies on the potential impacts of urban growth. The Watershed Plan will recommend approaches, but not siteâ€"specific measures to meet the identified goals. Subwatershed studies are to be prepared in conjunction with more detailed land use planning (i.e. Secondary plans). The Watershed Plan has been carried out in accordance with the principles of Environmental Assessment. The Plan will be considered for adoption by the Region of Halton, Halton Region Conservation Authority and Area Municipalities. Any stormwater management facilities that are constructed in accordance with the subwatershed plans fnay be subject to the Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Water and Wastewater Projects. LOCATION: Auditorium, Halton Regional Centre 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville (on Hwy. 25, just north of QEW) Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice and the Public Open House, the Region of Halton plans to instruct the consultants to proceed with the planning for these projects and the Master Plan will be prepared and placed on the public record. Further comments are invited for incorporation into the planning and design of these projects, and will be received during and following the public meeting, until June 17, 1994. Armour explained most of the local United Ways were established following both World Wars, during the Great Depression of the 1930s, or in times of rapid growth in a commuâ€" nity, resulting in sudden increased need.
