While there is plenty of firstâ€" year talent fighting for jobs, they only have two returning veterans â€" Andrew Short and Mike Byrne. In the early games, the Blades "played mostly rookies" and they by and large "acquitted themselves well," remarked Walker, especially considering that most of the oppoâ€" nents were further ahead in their training camps and icing, basically, their complete teams. At this point, it looks like the Blades will have "as good a forward (unit) as anyone in the league." Back, are the Blades‘ top two scorers, Kent Williams and Jason Slaney along with Gord Kalverda, Corey Waring, Matt Interbartolo, Matt Swain and (from two years ago) Matt Langen. As well, there are some hot rookâ€" ies in camp, many coming up from the Oakville tripleâ€"AAA Maple Leaf midgets which made it all the way to Air Canada regional chamâ€" pionships last year. The biggest question mark remains with the blueline corps where the team would like to add a veteran "who has been through the
