But students at Falgarwood and Sheridan Public Schools, and Iroquois Ridge High School are doing just that. There is, however, a good reaâ€" son why they don gloves and aprons and sort through soggy teabags, empty kleenex boxes and pop cans. They are doing it for the good of the school, the students and on a grand scale, the world in general. Their purpose is to audit the type and amount of waste produced at their respective schools, then to forâ€" mulate an action plan to reduce that waste. The idea is to make students more selective about what they throw out, explained teacher Kelly Ground. The waste audit is one of many projects the family of three schools has undertaken to increase environâ€" mental awareness among students, reduce waste and subsequently costs.
