28 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday May 6, 2006 SOCCER...SOCCER...SOCCER Squirt Angels begin U4 / U5 GIRLS & BOYS HOUSE LEAGUE year with tourney win The Oakville Squirt Angels started their girls' fastball season on the right foot, winning the Brampton novice tournament. The Angels, despite playing against teams from an older age group, were able to score 19 runs in their final three games, including a 5-1 win over the host Brampton team in the championship contest. Crystal Marentette drove in three runs on two singles in the tournament final to lead the Angels offensively. The Angels beat another Brampton team 8-0 in the semifinal with Nova Bozinoski, Marentette and Alex Sagl recording two hits each. Sagl had a solid tournament for the Angels, pitching a no-hitter and racking up three hits in the quarter-final game against Kitchener and was credited with the win on the mound in the tournament final. In round-robin play, the Angels beat Mississauga 16-3, lost to Brampton 2-1 and tied Halton Hills 1-1. Oakville finished second in the round robin, thanks to its run differential. The Oakville pitching staff of Brittany Parkes and Sagl allowed only six runs (one earned) over 34 innings, giving up 11 hits and seven walks while striking out 69 batters. Other members of the Oakville Angels are Jennifer Wilcox, Jennifer Simpson, Dana Ball, Kelly Locke, Jocelyn Carabott, Abbey Fong and Hilary Dawe.
