Ontario is investing in programs to keep us globally competitive. 21st annual Tay-Sachs Run/Walk Monday The Canadian Association for TaySachs and Allied Diseases (CATSAD) Inc. is having its 21st annual 5K Run/Walk for the Kids on Monday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. Presented by the Sharkey's Group of Companies, the walk will begin at O'Finn's Irish Temper, at Church and Navy Streets. Funds will go to CATSAD. It's a national, non-profit, organization dedicated to the treatment of fatal, genetic, neurological diseases such as Tay-Sachs, Niemann-Pick, Canavan and some leukodystrophies. CATSAD does not receive any government funding, and relies totally on this event and donations for its revenue. For more on the organization, visit www.catsad.ca To register for the Run/Walk for the Kids, visit the Running Room, 156 Lakeshore Rd., or register on race day at O'Finn's between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25 after Oct. 4 and $30 on race day. Race Kit pick up for pre-registered runners is Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 at the Running Room from 12 4 p.m., and on race day at O'Finn's. Prizes of $200 will go to the first place male and female, $100 to the first place male and female master finishers. Numerous door prizes, refreshments, food, water and more will be available.
