"We are so appreciative of the hard work and big hearts of all of the employees at ALTANA Pharma in raising much needed funds for the Oakville community," said Dawn Essoe, director of the annual campaign at United Way of Oakville. "This year, the organization increased its donation by 37 per cent over 2005. In just two short weeks, employees met the challenge by donating more than $31,767. Combined with the corporate match of $41,691 and funds raised through special events, the total contribution to United Way of Oakville was $76,434. "Giving back to the community is a big part of the ALTANA culture and value system at all levels of the organization," explained Linda Shales, vice-president of human resources at ALTANA Pharma. "United Way of Oakville reaches out to so many individuals in the community through its diverse network of social agencies and charities; it's a natural choice for ALTANA Pharma to support." In addition to holding an employee campaign, ALTANA Pharma is also the sponsor of United Way of Oakville's website-- www.uwoakville.org--and participates in a variety of United Way fundraising activities throughout the year, including the annual United Way of Oakville Mayor's Invitational Golf Tournament.
