"The three occupants in the Honda were all injured, the air ambulance was called to transport one of the individuals, however it was cancelled before arrival and the three were taken to hospital by ambulance," said police spokesperson Sgt. Peter Payne. All three were taken to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital two with, what police described as significant but non life-threatening injuries and the third with minor injuries. One young man in the Honda was fitted with a respirator as firefighters removed him from the car, holding his head steady the whole time. After being removed from the car the man was placed on a stretcher and fitted with a neck brace before being removed from the scene in an ambulance. Firefighters also used blankets to bundle the victim against the day's intense cold and freezing winds. Police said the driver of the van received minor scratches and scrapes and was taken to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital but was discharged. The other occupants of the van were uninjured. Police rerouted traffic around the accident and began the process of piecing together what had happened photographing the scene and interviewing witnesses.
