12 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday February 9, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com The Regional Municipality of Halton Podcast provides three minutes of health and fitness New Deposit Return for LCBO Bottles Starting February 5, wine and liquor bottles (glass and plastic) and Tetra Paks® purchased from the LCBO and other beverage alcohol retailers in Ontario, can be returned to The Beer Store. You will receive a 10¢ or 20¢ deposit per bottle, depending on the size of the bottle. This new program is another way to increase the amount of bottles being recycled. By returning bottles to The Beer Store you free up space in your Blue Box which means you'll have more room to recycle other materials around your home. Thank you for you participation. Currently about 68 per cent of wine and liquour bottles are diverted away from the landfill and are recycled through the Blue Box. The Ontario government expects that by the fifth year of the new deposit return program, an additional 80 million bottles will be recycled. For more information about the program or for a list of your nearest The Beer Store locations, please visit www.bagitback.ca. Please note: Halton Region will still collect and recycle LCBO containers placed in the Blue Box after February 5. I Halton Waste Management Calendar has been delivered If you haven't already received your Halton Waste Management Calendar in your mailbox, limited supplies are available at: t seems that many of us are now savvy to the benefits of audio podcasts and audio files are all the rage as we struggle to use every single second of our time as efficiently as possible. Not to be outdone, the YMCA of Oakville has produced several short audio files for our website at www.ymcaofoakville.com, including a recent cut from the Y's Supervisor of Health and Fitness, Jeanette Heywood, entitled Three Minutes of Health and Fitness. Anyone who has spoken to Jeanette, or even better, taken a YMCA of Oakville fitness class with her, knows the kind of energy that she can generate, and the same is true if you listen to her words. Somehow she manages to combine common sense with experience and knowledge in a way that can truly inspire you to action the first step. In a world where we want everything to happen overnight, Jeanette brings you back to the basics of making a plan, taking small steps and working towards a goal. She asks you `not to expect miracles', but at the same time she asks you to give 100 per cent to your goal and stick to it the key to success. Many thanks to writer and podcast expert Donna Papacosta of Trafalgar Communications for conducting the interviews and producing podcasts for the YMCA of Oakville you have brought our words to life, Donna. Take the first step. Go to `Hear Our Stories' at www.ymcaofoakville.com, and let Jeanette inspire you to move forward for your health. -- Submitted by the Oakville YMCA Burlington Burlington City Hall 426 Brant Street Burlington Burlington Public Library Branches Milton Milton Town Hall 43 Brown Street Milton Milton Public Library 45 Bruce Street Milton ALISHA AND FARIDA TOOK A STAND FOR THEIR REGIONAL CANCER CENTRE.
