Pedestrian seriously injured An elderly woman is in critical condition at Hamilton General Hospital after she was hit by a car at a Jones and Lakeshore Road crosswalk Thursday afternoon. The woman was struck just after noon while crossing at the crosswalk. She was rushed to hospital with lifethreatening injuries, said Halton Regional Police public affairs officer Sgt. Peter Payne. The car that struck her was headed eastbound and was driven by an elderly man, Payne said. After the car hit the woman, it struck another vehicle going southbound through the intersection, he added, though no one in either car was injured. The road was closed Thursday for three hours to allow for an investigation of the scene. That investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Det. Constable Rich Solecki of the Regional Traffic Bureau, who has yet to determine whether charges will be laid. As of press time yesterday, the woman's condition was unknown. It had not yet been confirmed whether she is an Oakville resident.
