36 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 7, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com OAC hires new executive director One more brush stroke has been painted on the canvas of the revitalized Oakville Arts Council (OAC) with the appointment of Megan Whittington as executive director. "The Board of Directors is thrilled with Megan's experience and enthusiasm," said Ken Kawall, President of the Oakville Arts Council. "She brings the drive and passion that the OAC needs to unite the voices of the Arts Community, to lead the development of services for members and to raise the profile of arts makers in Oakville." Whittington joins the OAC from the Mississauga Arts Council, where she had been Development Director since 2004. An active participant in community theatre and folk music writer, Whittington has a BA Specialist Degree in Theatre from the University of Toronto and brings great enthusiasm for the arts as well as the experience needed to connect the community to dynamic artists, arts groups, and artistic activity in Oakville. As a fundraiser in non-profit arts organizations for the past nine years, Whittington understands the importance of building awareness of the Arts in the community and the need to support local artists. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to build community connections and enrich the arts in Oakville. Fundraising for the arts is an essential component to strengthening the quality of artistic activity in our community," said Whittington. "I encourage us all to support the arts. It has everything to do with quality of life." Her fundraising experience includes working with foundations and soliciting corporate donations for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and building partnerships and sponsorships with the business community for the Canadian Opera Company. Check the label to make sure your sunscreen offers UVA and UVB protection. Both UVA and UVB are part of the sun's ultraviolet radiation (UVR) emission, and both are linked to sunburns and long-term skin damage. 2. Your sunscreen should offer a high sun protection factor (SPF) for UVB protection. More and more consumers now are looking for higher SPFs than ever before. For example, a sunscreen that offers a SPF 15 allows you to stay out in the sun about 15 times longer without burning. 3. Ideally, it's best to re-apply sunscreen every one two hours, especially if you've been swimming. As a rough guide, the average adult should use one ounce (about the size of a golf ball) of sunscreen over his or her entire body for each application. 4. Your sunscreen should enhance your skin, not irritate it. If you have sensitive skin, it's best to test a small patch for 48 hours (before your vacation) to see if you develop any kind of reaction. - News Canada 171 SPEERS RD. #19, OAKVILLE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri. 9:30-9:00pm, Wed. 9:30-6:00pm, Sat. 9:00-5:00, Sun. 12:00-5:00pm EYELASH EXTENTIONS AVAILABLE! www.hairchateau.com (check website for new client discount) 905 338-1237 NOW OPEN www.betterbodytoning.com VINCENT'S 2 Barber Shop & Hairstyles Specializing in men's colouring The ideal treatment for immediate inch loss & toning (non-surgical & without needles) We would like to welcome Dan & John Riccardi VINCENT'S 2 VINCENT'S 2 Barber Shop & Hairstyles Barber Shop & Hairstyles VINCENT'S 2 VINCENT'S 2 Dundas St. str idg e Trafalgar Po Barber Shop & Hairstyles Barber Shop Closed Monday Tues.-Fri. 9am-7pm, Sat. 8am-5pm, Sun. 11am-5pm, & Hairstyles 526 Postridge Dr. Oakville · 905-257-1247 OPENING SOON: Vincent's 3 in Burlington An electronic muscle stimulator works your muscles for fast, safe, immediate and sustainable inch loss.
