4- The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday March 17, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com www.oakvillebeaver.com Aquinas teacher wins Humber's Greatest High School Teacher Contest Humber College has named St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary High School teacher Beth Robertson one of two recipients of its Greatest High School Teacher Contest. The contest sees Humber students write an essay about their favourite high school teacher. An academic committee then narrows down the essays to the best and selects two winners. More than 100 essays were submitted this year, nominating teachers from all over Ontario. The award recognizes both the teacher and the student's writing skills, and 2007 marks its second year. Robertson will be presented with her Greatest High School Teacher Award along with the other recipient, Guelph's Joe Tersigni, Tuesday night at Humber College's Etobicoke campus. Not only do the teachers win the award, they're also invited to nominate a student from their school to attend Humber College, and the college grants that student one year of free tuition.
