The Oakville Museum has a host of Hands on History Summer Camps lined up for the summer. Explore, discover and create at this beautiful location by the lake by joining for a summer full of active, engaging and creative programs at Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate, a four-acre estate home and gardens, set on the shores of Lake Ontario near downtown Oakville. There will be games, crafts, adventures, and celebrations taking place at Oakville's community museum, which has two air-conditioned program areas and four acres of outdoor program space. Full-week day camps are available for ages seven to 11 and half-day camps for those ages three to six years. Before and after care available. Camps have a maximum number of 20 children per session. From July 9-13, there's Happy Birthday Oakville. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this camp for those aged seven to 11 celebrates Oakville's 150th anniversary. Explore the interesting people of Oakville. Get to know the earliest settlers as well as people who live and work in Oakville today. Greet William Chisholm, the founder of Oakville, at Oakville's first Post Office and learn about the early days of the town. Go on a ghostly trek at a historic cemetery. Meet special guest speakers and learn about their contributions to our community. End the week of camp at Oakville's birthday bash, with cake, decorations, and lots of fun. From July 16-20 attend Where Science Meets Art from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those ages eight to 12 years. The museum is the ideal place to explore the natural environment. The estate is located on four acres of wooded parkland, set on Lake Ontario and the 16-Mile Creek. The setting will be used to inspire children as they investigate the natural sciences. They can illustrate nature while learning about basic scientific principles using a variety of media including; pencil, ink, watercolour, and charcoal. Kids can discover the diversity of plant and animal life through illustration and investigation.The week will include excursions to varied natural settings and a visit to an art gallery.
