www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday July 20, 2007 - 7 Bowling alley and VIP rooms make it unique Continued from page 1 ample leg room and lessen potential visual obstructions. The concession area was not immune from Cineplex Entertainment's desire to offer guests an enhanced experience with Chaqwa specialty coffees and teas being available along with hot foods from Pizza Pizza and New York Fries. A Yogen Fruz frozen dessert bar with an amazing selection of no-fat, lowfat yogurts and premium ice creams will also be found in the concession area. For the traditionalists, popcorn and soft drinks will also be on hand. For those looking for something a little more exclusive the complex's VIP auditoriums promise the ultimate movie-going experience. "In the VIP area there is going to be separate VIP ticketing, concession and lounge areas," said McGrath. "There will be three Hollywood screening style VIP rooms with leather UNIQUE THEATRE: An artist's rendering of what the new Oakville Silver City theatre will look like at night. It's said the theatre will be unique in the business and will boast a bowling alley and VIP auditoriums. chairs, wider chairs than what you would normally have, with lots of leg room. There will be excellent service, we'll have service right to you so you can order your concessions and have them brought right to your seat." One final would-be perk of the VIP room has yet to be approved. "If we can get the government of Ontario to allow us to serve alcohol in those VIP auditoriums only, we would like to do that," said McGrath. The cost of constructing all this lies at between $12-13 million. With so many astounding features available McGrath says Oakville was the right location to allow the complex to flourish. "Oakville was chosen because there is no other state-of-the-art theatre in Oakville. There is a theatre in Burlington, there is a theatre in Mississauga, we've got a Silver City there. There is another theatre on the Mississauga/Oakville border, but nothing in the Town of Oakville and we thought it was time to get something into Oakville that is state-of-the-art," said McGrath. "We looked at the mix of excellent demographics here, the strong family base and said, `It's time to build something here that is really more than just a movie theatre.'" The Town of Oakville is no less excited to receive this cinematic wonder with Mayor Rob Burton endorsing the project during the groundbreaking ceremony. "It's an innovation to have a bowling alley in a movie theatre and I'm looking forward to the possibility of weaving that into our busy lives. Maybe there is a need for a mayor's invitational bowling tournament," joked Burton. "Thank you very much for choosing Oakville and I know the residents of Oakville love movies as much as I do and we're looking forward to it," said the mayor. THE SAFEST ROUTE Think Green. Be Cool.
