Residents contribute greatly to tracking the virus and preventing its spread within the community through reporting dead birds and areas of standing water. However, now that we are into August, it's time to pay particular attention to protecting yourself and your family from mosquito bites. In the past few years, we have seen that most human infections of West Nile virus occur in August and September. Remember to cover up from dusk to dawn and to use a mosquito repellent containing DEET.
