Grace Academy of Dance and Performing Arts Developing your child's creativity As fall quickly approaches, parents are busy searching for programs in which to register their children. But with so many to choose from how are parents to know which is the best possible choice for their child? "Grace Academy of Dance and Performing Arts offers an exceptional program in which we see children thrive and grow," says Academy director Heidi Knapp. Platinum winners of Oakville's reader's Choice Awards in the category of Best Dance Children's Instruction, Grace Academy offers classes in classical ballet, modern theatre dance, jazz, tap, hip hop, musical theatre and acting. "We provide students with the opportunity to explore their creativity while fostering a natural appreciation for music and movement," explains Knapp. "Students receive a solid foundation in dance and theatrical technique in an environment that is warm and friendly. It is a safe, caring and fun setting for students and their families where strong friendships are developed as they develop a love of dance!" Grace Academy is one of the few schools that do not focus on competitive work within their program. Their highly qualified staff offers opportunities to participate in examinations as well as opportunities to perform within the community. All students are given the chance to participate in a specially written family musical at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts each year. According to Knapp "our focus is on building the individual allowing them to grow at their own pace and in their own unique way. When it is taught correctly, dance will develop poise, grace, strength and flexibility as well as growth in personal expression and confidence!" Located at 785 Pacific road, unit 1, in Oakville. Great Heritage Trails The Heritage Trails of Oakville are a singularly uniting element of this great community. Not only does it unite us in the ability to get out and enjoy the natural world that surrounds us in every season, the Heritage Trails also physically unite our town as they cross every region and literally connect each point on the compass. It was in 2001 that the Community Foundation of Oakville, as part of their Millennium Project, undertook the task of raising the needed funds to expand and preserve our network of trails so that it would always remain a vital and compelling part of our shared heritage in this community. The aim of the project is to join together Oakville's four compass points by linking the town's three major northsouth ravines with the Waterfront and Larry Cain Trails along with trails previously established in the North. Linking Oakville's harbours, lakefront and heritage districts, the system features information stations and signage so that all those who avail themselves of the trails can learn more about the area's history as well as its natural wonders. Ideally, the trails will act as an unbroken connection between north and south Oakville that had been split in two by the QEW and rail tracks. Take a tour of the trails, take a tour across Oakville, and take the time to enjoy just how special this unique system truly is.
