www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday October 5, 2007 - 37 OAK swimmers chosen for Swim Ontario camp Marni Oldershaw and Mack Darragh of the Oakville Aquatics Club(OAK) have been selected to take part in a four-day Ontario training camp in Ottawa. The two swimmers will participate in the Swim Ontario Fall Provincial Training Camp at the University of Ottawa this weekend. Selections were made based on the top three Ontario male and female 400-metre individual medley and 200m performances for ages 13, 14 and 15. Darragh and Oldershaw, both 13, are coming off gold-medal performances at this summer's Canadian Age Group Championships. Darragh's three golds, Oldershaw's five golds, along with a gold by 18-year-old Cam Cummings, led OAK to a second place finish. Due to the performances of OAK swimmers and for his expertise in coaching age group swimmers to great success, long-time OAK coach Alex Wallingford has also been selected to attend this Swim Ontario camp. "The 2006/2007 season was definitely a phenomenal year for the Oakville Aquatic Club and the fact that we have two swimmers and one coach selected to attend this camp is a reflection of this success," said OAK head coach Christy Yaremczuk. "Not only is this fall camp a reward for Marni and Mack for all of their hard work, it is also a chance for them to showcase their great skill development." Both swimmers are leaders in their respective age groups in the IM events, both provincially and nationally. OAK will host its annual Brad Townsend Fall Classic swim meet Oct. 20-21 at Iroquois Ridge Pool featuring top swimmers from across central Ontario. On Friday, Oct. 26th, OAK will also run an intra-club meet at Iroquois Ridge Pool, followed on Oct. 27 by its annual awards dinner.
