The sale is a perfect opportunity to stock up on books, movies and music for the coming months. The biannual Book Sales are the Friends of the Library's principle method of raising funds for the library. Sales are held in November and April each year. Books are also sold throughout the year at the Friendly Finds kiosks, located in each branch of the Oakville Public Library. At just $1.25 per pound, you can't find a better deal for winter reading material. Sale dates and times are as follows: Friends of the Library Members Only: · Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6 ­ 9 p.m. Public Sale: · Thursday, Nov. 15, 11 a.m. ­ 9 p.m. · Friday, Nov. 16, 9:30 a.m. ­ 5 p.m. · Saturday, Nov. 17, 9:30 a.m. ­ 5 p.m. · Sunday, Nov. 18, 1 ­ 4 p.m. (Please note new sale closing time). On Sunday, all books are half price. Other ways you can support the Oakville Public Library is through its Annual Campaign. Your contribution to the library will work to ensure that children are given the best possible chance to succeed, which is one of the library's main priorities. Funds raised will be used to support the Summer Reading program, Book Nooks, the Book Play outreach program and other library initiatives. Ginny is a great example of someone our outreach services has had an impact on. Since being introduced to the Book Play program, she is now counting to five, sharing her new found knowledge of colours, showing interest in talking and sharing stories. All she needed was for someone to help her begin to explore early literacy skills. As her caregiver says, "The change was amazing." Research indicates that 19 per cent of parents have difficulty accessing earlylearning supports for their children. Reaching out to those who are not able to visit the library in person is important to the Oakville Public Library.
