Funds raised at the concert will help families in the Halton region who are in need. The concert will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church. It begins at 7:30 p.m. Sharing Christmas showcases the group's 28 singers, along with tenor Bill Everett, flutist Heather Sheridan, the hand bell choir of Grace Lutheran Church and organist John Laing. A favourite part of this annual concert is audience participation in familiar carols. Oakville residents in the John Laing singers include David How, Sue Coleman, Kaye Edwards and Adam Smith. The group will showcase a number of new carols composed by Laing, who is the conductor. Book signing tonight at Surroundings Canadian artist Trisha Romance will be signing copies of her firstever children's book tonight, Wednesday, at Surroundings. Romance will be meeting her fans and signing copies of A Star for Christmas from 7-9 p.m. at the store, located at 125 Cross Ave. The illustrated book is about an old carpenter who builds his own home in a quiet meadow, with only a small reindeer to keep him company. While it seems impossible to finish his home by winter, the carpenter receives plenty of help from neighbours to complete the project in time for Christmas. The carpenter, in turn, has a surprise for the many neighbours who lend a hand, making this a Christmas each of them will cherish forever. Romance's book is inspired by people who are dear to her and a real reindeer named Star, who lives in Anchorage, Alaska and had "been in her heart" for a long time.
