www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday December 15, 2007 - 15 $MILLION OR MORE OAKVILLE Fundraiser for HIV/AIDS in Africa WHAT IS $MILLION OR MORE OAKVILLE: · An initiative to raise $1 Million+ from the Oakville Community to support the work of the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) in its fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa: It is the result of an effort on the part of a small group of citizens to learn more about the HIV/AIDS pandemic, interact with the oomama grandmothers' group, liaise with the local education community, and consult with community representatives. An extension of Oakville's community-based fundraising campaigns: The campaign is intended as an addition to Oakville's giving priorities. We do not seek to re-direct citizens' support for the many worthwhile and important priorities here at home. An opportunity for Oakville: to support a critical international cause, to build upon the inspirational leadership which Oakville is known for, and to contribute in a significant way to the 2008 and 2009 WORLD AIDS DAY celebrations. © Liz Marshall · · © Liz Marshall OPPORTUNITIES TO BE A PART OF THIS TWO-YEAR INITIATIVE: Become involved, in activities such as... It provides care to women who are ill and struggling to survive; assists orphans and other AIDS affected children; supports heroic grandmothers who almost single-handedly care for their orphan grandchildren; and supports associations of people living with HIV/AIDS.
