www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday January 5, 2008 - 15 Wellspring to host two forums Wellspring Halton Peel will host two discussion forums this month. The first is Colorectal Cancer: Treatment Options, to be held on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. Treatment for colorectal cancer depends mainly on the size, location and extent of the tumor, and on the patient's general health. In this presentation, Dr. Mark Rother will provide an overview of colorectal cancer with an emphasis on new and emerging therapies. Rother is a medical oncologist at the Peel Regional Cancer Centre at Credit Valley Hospital. He primarily treats gastrointestinal malignancies and is actively involved in clinical research. The second forum is targeted to caregivers. Managing Medications will provide information and support to caregivers on Thursday, Jan. 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. Many cancer patients take multiple medications, and caregivers often find themselves having to manage this confusing and ongoing task. In this presentation, caregivers will have an opportunity to learn strategies to help manage medications. This session will also provide caregivers with an opportunity to share their experiences with other caregivers in a comfortable and informal setting. This session will be led by Mova Leung, Pharmacy Clinical Leader at Peel Regional Cancer Centre at Credit Valley Hospital. A Wellspring facilitator for the Caregivers Support Group will be on hand to answer any question and provide support. Both forums will take place at Wellspring Halton-Peel, 2545 Sixth Line, Oakville.
