www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 18, 2008 - 7 Lone man robs bank Halton Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a bank robber who held up a TD Canada Trust in Oakville Tuesday night. Police said that at around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 a man entered the bank, located at 2221 Lakeshore Rd. W, approached a teller and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was surrendered to robber who then fled the bank, running eastbound on Lakeshore Road. No one was hurt during the robbery. A Halton Police canine unit was called to the scene, but was unable to find the man. The man is described as white, 230-240 lbs., in his late 20s, with blue eyes, dirty blond hair, blond eyebrows, a wide nose, pale skin and acne scars. He wore a black balaclava with oval openings for the eyes and nose, a black hoodie with a front pocket, a purple/blue T-shirt with baggy worn blue jeans. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident. Public school board presenting accommodation review recommendations The Halton District School Board is encouraging parents and community members to attend the final public meetings of the Oakville Program and Accommodation Review Committees (PARC). The committees will present their draft recommendations and request feedback from the public. The PARC PE 16 B meeting, concerning Lorne Skuce, Sunningdale, Munn's and Montclair Public Schools, will take place Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at White Oaks Secondary School (South Campus), 1330 Montclair Dr. The PARC PE 14 meeting, concerning Brantwood, Linbrook, New Central, Maple Grove, Chisholm, E.J. James Public Schools and Oakville Trafalgar High School, will take place Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at Oakville Trafalgar High School, 1460 Devon Rd. These committees have been meeting since May 2007 regarding the accommodation of students in these two specific areas in Oakville. As required by the Ministry of Education, the membership of each committee includes two school board trustees and parents, staff members and the principal of the schools included in the study. Parents are encouraged to refer to the Halton District School Board website for agendas, minutes and background information regarding these studies.
