www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday January 23, 2008 - 7 Missing Georgina senior could be in Oakville Police are asking local residents to keep their eyes open for an 83-year-old man who went missing from the Town of Georgina more than a week ago. Michael Chesterman is believed to have left his Georgina -- on the south shore of Lake Simcoe -- home between midnight and 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14. There are unconfirmed reports that Chesterman has been spotted in Halton, and police say the missing man may be destined for the Niagara Escarpment. The York police helicopter, Air2, as well as the OPP and CFB Trenton helicopters have been searching by air. Chesterman is described as white, 5-foot-9 with a thin build and grey hair that's balding on top. He was wearing a black nylon coat and white running shoes. He speaks with an English accent. However, this can change for Halton residents, from the age of 18 and up, who wish to take part in the 13th session of the Citizen Police Academy. With seats still available the program is open to Halton residents interested in learning about the inner workings and specialized units of the police service. Police have designed the Citizen Police Academy to promote a better understanding and knowledge of various police issues, policies and programs that support the community services provided by the Halton Regional Police Service. The academy is a 12-week program that runs each Tuesday evening from Jan. 27 through April 15. Classes run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and are held at the Halton Regional Police Headquarters building, located at 1151 Bronte Rd.
