These included the North Park Arena Quad for $48.1 million; a new transit facility for $45.7million; North Park Sports Fields/Skateboarding/BMX for $15.2 million; the Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre for $15.2 million; a new Central Library for $15 million; North Oakville Trails for $7.6 million; and a new fire station for $4.8 million. The presentation also revealed the cost of key infrastructure renewal, transportation and construction projects scheduled to take place over the next 10 years. These include hot-mix roads surface treatment conversion for $45.1 million; Wyecroft Road for $36 million; Kerr Street grade separation for $27.5 million; transit replacement buses for $19.5 million; and, mid-town/QEW expansion for $11 million. "Projects have been prioritized and their implementation dates scheduled to take place when the financial resources are available," said Patti ElliottSpencer, Director of Finance and Town Treasurer. 2008 Budget Committee Chair and Ward 4 Councillor Allan Elgar noted the Town will benefit from almost $70 million dollars in funding from the phase out of GTA tax pooling by 2017 to support local infrastructure funding. "This funding, previously levied by Halton Region, will now be levied by the Town," said Elgar. The next Budget Committee meeting will be Feb. 11 from 1-4 p.m. in Town Hall's Committee Rooms One and Two. Staff will release budget documents and provide a summary of operating and capital budget. Staff budget presentations will be Feb. 19, 22 and 25, public delegations will be Feb. 26 as well as Feb. 27 (if required).
