Oakvillegreen is a non-profit, non-partisan environmental organization working to help the community become healthy and sustainable. Oakvillegreen was established originally to ensure that development of the 7,600 acres of land North of Dundas was ecologically responsible. Through its member organization Ground Breakers, Oakvillegreen has also planted almost 5,000 trees and shrubs in Oakville over the past four years and hosted a seed collection workshop, heritage tree workshop and a heritage tree hunt. As well, Oakvillegreen has established the first communally-run community garden, supported the seasonal Organic Farmer's Market on Kerr Street and made presentations on numerous subjects from energy conservation to organic gardening to many community and school groups. A Think Tank will be held from 8 to 9 p.m. to discuss how to protect 27 hectares of ecologically sensitive land in north Halton and how to address the Region's growth plan that will double Halton's population by 2031.
