You will be very aware of the many important pieces of the jigsaw that need to be put in place; registering your business, reporting income and expenses, exporting and setting up a website, to name but a few. But all this does not have to become a headache for you. Let Oakville Public Library walk you through the basics of setting up your small business and take a little bit of the stress away. In a series of Small Business Seminars presented in partnership with the Halton Region Business Development Centre, the library will be helping those individuals within the community gain a greater understanding of new business start-up issues. Hosted by both seasoned business consultants and business information professionals, these `Small Business Know-How' seminars are designed to give participants the essential information and skills they need to help their new business thrive. The business seminars range from information sessions offering a general overview of a small business start-up to more in-depth planning considerations such as registrations, regulations and licensing, exporting, franchising and website set-up. In the run-up to these Halton Region seminars, Oakville Public Library, in association with Revenue Canada Agency, is offering a free tax seminar, Tax Essentials for Small Businesses. It will be held at Oakville Public Library, Central Branch, in the auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 6.308.30 p.m. This seminar will be presented by Revenue Canada Agency. For this particular event there is no registration and participants will gain places on a first come, first served basis. This seminar is for people who have just started or are about to start an unincorporated small business and for people who would like to learn more. Various topics will include: how to register your business, income and expenses to report, filing requirements and obligations, filing deadlines, books and records, GST/HST and source deductions (payroll).
