The job fair will take place Thursday, Feb. 28, at both the Oakville and Brampton campuses. It runs from 3-6:30 p.m. at the Sheridan College campus, located at 407 Iroquois Shore Rd., not to be confused with the Trafalgar Campus. Employers from a wide range of industries will attend the job fair. On-the-spot interviews and networking opportunities will be available for those who attend. The job fair is open to the public. The Halton Youth Symphony will be performing in Europe this summer. In its 32nd season of performances, the Symphony will achieve its longtime goal of performing at an International Youth and Music Festival. On July 9 of this year, most of the senior musicians will board a plane for a 10-day performance tour in Salzburg, Vienna and Prague. As part of the preparation for this trip, there will be two performance concerts held in Oakville over the next few months. The first will be a spring concert, Leap into Spring, on Friday, Feb. 29 at Holy Trinity High School, 2420 Sixth Line. The concert begins at 7:30pm. The Halton Youth Symphony is comprised of two orchestras ­ The Halton Youth Chamber Orchestra and The Halton Youth Symphony Orchestra. Both will be performing on Feb. 29. The HYCO, under the direction of Caron Allen, will be performing several pieces including Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3, Leidig's Brazilian Tango and Anne McGinty's All the Pretty Little Horses. The HYSO, under Maestro Janez Govednik, will perform pieces from Mozart, Strauss' Emperor Waltz op.437 and Gliere's Russian Sailors' Dance. The Halton Youth Symphony began in the basement of the Appleby College Chapel in 1975 under the direction of Jean Grieve. During the first season, there were only 12 musicians. Known first as the Oakville Youth Symphony, then as the Sheridan Symphony, the HYS continues to attract talented young musicians from Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Mississauga, Toronto and neighbouring communities.
