Oakville tied Toledo 1-1, then shut out Chicago HF 2-0 and Fredonia 1-0 before clinching gold with a 3-1 win over Rochester. The two-game series is scheduled to continue Tuesday with a 2:30 p.m. game at Burlington's Appleby Ice Centre. The winner of that series will face either the Nelson Lords or Georgetown Rebels. Nelson ended the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils' season in the quarter-finals, as the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Game 1 before the Lords won the second game 3-1. Dylan Gilbert had the OT goal in the series opener. Taylor Dunn was the lone Red Devils player to find the net in Game 2. Abbey Park ousted the Loyola Hawks in the other quarter-final involving local teams. The Eagles won the first game of the series, 3-1, and then finished the Hawks off Tuesday with a 2-2 draw. The Halton final will be played Thursday, March 6. Girls' hockey The Halton high school girls' hockey championship was decided yesterday afternoon at Oakville Arena. The T.A. Blakelock Tigers and Nelson Lords tied in the opening game of the series Tuesday, 1-1, meaning the winner of yesterday's contest would be crowned Halton champion. Coverage of that game will appear in Saturday's edition of the Beaver. OFSAA boys' basketball The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders have been seeded fourth for next week's Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) AA boys' basketball championships in Oshawa. Aquinas went 10-0 in Halton regular-season play and won its first playoff game before being upset in the semifinals by the Holy Trinity Titans, the eventual Division 1 champions.
