For Linda, that will always mean the children of ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development, where she has been President, CEO and chief motivating force since 1998. Since she accepted the top job there, ErinoakKids became the largest such centre in Ontario, caring for kids who cope with physical and developmental challenges that can tug at the heart ­ and who do so with a courage that can lift it up. "International Women's Day is about appreciation of women's contributions, and sending positive messages to reinforce their commitment to achieve," says Linda. "The Athena Award is about those things, too. Putting these ideals to work to make a brighter future for deserving kids is what we do at ErinoakKids, and that's why the Athena Award is such an honour." Linda announced her retirement effective in the spring of 2008.
