While Oakville Beaver artistic director Steve Nease has created the pachyderm who will serve as the non-traditional barometer tracking the success of the $Million or More Oakville (MOMO) campaign, he is leaving the elephant's name up to readers and the public. To that end, The Oakville Beaver and $Million or More Oakville are launching a Name the Elephant Contest. The $Million or More Oakville fundraising campaign aims to raise $1 million, or more, from the Oakville community to help the people of Africa who are impacted by the growing and deadly situation of HIV/AIDS. While the campaign is well underway, having been launched on World Aids Day -- Dec. 1 -- last year, the pachyderm who needs a name is just now making its debut. Soon to be seen on a regular basis, the elephant has been crafted by Nease and will be the campaign's symbol of achievement. Members of the public will be able to watch the elephant's trunk transform throughout the campaign as local residents reach out together to help people in Africa and increase Oakville's capacity to care. Here's how to participate in the contest.
