Blakelock High School will be inducting two more graduates into its Hall of Fame on Friday, Apr. 11. The graduates, Madhur Anand and David Bradstreet, have gone on to excel in their respective fields. Anand is a professor of science at the University of Guelph working specifically in the field of ecology. She has won many awards including the Award of Excellence in Research and Technology Development from the government of Canada. She has also published many papers on her research on ecosystems. Blakelock is one of only two high schools in the province to have been awarded gold certification as an ecoschool. Bradstreet is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. In 1977, he won the JUNO for the Best New Male Vocalist for his album David Bradstreet. He subsequently received three more JUNO nominations. Perhaps his best known song is Renaissance, which was recorded by Valdy. To date, Bradstreet has 26 albums. Among his many awards, David won SOCAN Songwriting Awards for songs Renaissance, One Way or Another and Long, Long Road. He continues to compose, arrange, perform and produce for albums/CDs, television, movies, commercials and special events. The T.A. Award categories are: seniors; youth; arts; group volunteer; individual volunteer; sport development; heritage and history; and international. Last year more than 40 individuals and groups were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the community.
