Golden year for atom AA Hornets The Oakville Hornets atom AA team might want to permanently change the logo on the front of its jerseys to a gold medal. It might be more practical, considering that's what has been dangling in front of their chest for the majority of the season. Most recently, the Hornets won the Ontario Women's Hockey Association provincial championship. The tournament -- which took place April 11-13 -- included round-robin victories over Mississauga (4-0) and Brampton (2-0), and a 1-1 draw against London. Their record of 2-0-1 in the round robin was enough to earn them a bye into the semifinal, where they upset their neighbours to the west, the Burlington Barracudas, by a 3-0 score. The Hornets captured the championship by defeating the London Devillettes 3-0 in the goldmedal game. They received goals from Kaitlyn McAllister, Kaitlyn Norris and Taylor McMahon in the victory. However, this tournament win was simply icing on the cake for the Hornets, who have won four other tournaments this year, including a league title the weekend prior to the provincial tournament. Other victories included the women's International Silver Stick Tournament in Aurora, as well as at competitions in London and Waterloo. In addition to the numerous gold medals, the Hornets also captured silver medals in a tournament in Willowdale and the Ottawa Bell Canada Cup.
