www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 2, 2008 - 25 Car wash to Conquer Cancer May 10 Oakville resident Brendan Aldersley will host a fundraising car wash Saturday, May 10 at Glen Abbey United Church. From 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the car wash will run from the church located 1469 Nottinghill Gate just south of Upper Middle Road. The car wash will raise funds toward Aldersley's participation in the Ride to Conquer Cancer benefitting The Princess Margaret Hospital. Aldersley will join thousands in a history-making two-day ride June 2022, that will cover 200 km leaving from Toronto and ending at Niagara Falls with a night of camping in Hamilton. Riders will support breakthrough research and the discovery of new cancer therapies at The Princess Margaret. Four years ago, Aldersley's dad, Robert, was diagnosed with a Grade IV Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumour. "At the time, he was told by doctors he had only one year to live. This drastically changed our lives and that of many around us. With our high hopes, and best wishes and a lot of prayers he still stands beside me today in the battle against cancer. This is my inspiration for taking on this epic endeavour," said Aldersley. At the car wash there will be snacks, refreshments and music to enjoy while a group of friends and volunteers wash cars. Members of the public will be able to make cash donations to Aldersley that will go directly to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Aldersley hopes to raise $2,500 at the event.
