Oakville's seasonal battle with shoreline algae was dealt a blow of disappointment on Tuesday as staff informed the Community Services Committee that efforts to find new technologies for dealing with the unsightly ooze have come up empty. She's having their baby By Tim Whitnell SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER Dr. Jenna Davis is a happily-married mother with two youngsters and a third child well on the way -- but she insists it's not hers. Her stomach is large and round, as she is about five or six weeks from giving birth, but the 34-year-old is adamant that it is her sister's baby. Davis, a family chiropractor and acupuncturist with a practice in Oakville, is acting as a surrogate for her 35-year-old sister, Karma Brown. More accurately, Davis is, in her own words, acting as a "gestational carrier" of a child that she says belongs to Karma and her husband, Adam. "This is a very different feeling," Davis said of the pregnancy. "People have to remember this is not an adoption. It wasn't mine before it started growing. I feel a different bond. I love the baby, (but) it feels like my niece. I'm not preparing a (newborn) room. I'm really content with my family," she said. Davis and husband D'Arcy, married for more than 10 years, have a daughter, Emily, 5, and a son, Gavin, 3.
