The Longhorns will open the Northern Football Conference season against the rival Milton Marauders (a 7 p.m start). Milton features a number of ex-Longhorns, including former longtime Oakville quarterback Mark Demerling. Demerling led the Longhorns to 14 NFC championships, including 11 straight titles, during his tenure in Oakville. He also owns many NFC records. Milton, coincidentally, was the team to end the Longhorns' 11-year championship streak, upsetting Oakville 35-14 at Bronte in the 2004 league final. Oakville was 5-3 last season, while Milton was 2-6. Both teams are expected to show improvement this year. Tickets for tomorrow's game will be available at the gate.
