2- The Oakville Beaver, Friday June 13, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com CARSTAR soaps it up to benefit cystic fibrosis Mark Hebscher from CHCH-TV will roll up his sleeves to soap up and sponge down some cars, at the fifth annual CARSTAR "Soaps it Up" charity car wash taking place this Saturday, June 14. The charity event aims to raise money for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting young Canadians. It attacks the lungs, and the digestive system. The event will take place at Trafalgar Collision CARSTAR on 547 Trafalgar Rd., from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Hebscher will be present from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. From 11 a.m. -2 p.m., participants can also enjoy a barbecue, face painting and a visit from a clown. There will be more than 55 CARSTAR `Soaps it Up' events taking place across the country. To date, CARSTAR Collision Centres have raised more than $1.5 million to help fund research and treatment for cystic fibrosis. Team effort Bronte's Tea on the Bluffs for Father's Day Sunday The Bronte Historical Society is holding its 12th Annual Father's Day Tea on the Bluffs this Sunday. Enjoy a traditional Devonshire Tea served in the gardens of the Historic Sovereign House located in the beautiful Bronte Bluffs. This yearly event will have volunteers serving scones, Devonshire cream, strawberry jam, baked treats, hot tea and chilled lemonade as well as guiding you through the various exhibits located in Sovereign House. Tickets cost $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and for children under 12, $5. Tickets can be purchased at Bookers Bookstore located at 172 Lakeshore Rd. E. and Cudmore's Garden Centre located at 3171 Lakeshore Rd. W. Tickets can also be ordered by calling 905-825-5552. The event will take place rain or shine.
